EXPO 2025 OSAKA
BELGIUM
PAVILION
CONSTRUCTION
PAVILION NAME: The Belgian Pavilion: “Human Regeneration”
HOST COUNTRY: Kingdom of Belgium
ORGANISATION: BelExpo
LOCATION: Expo 2025 Site / Yumeshima Island / Plot S.08 / Saving Lives Zone
DIMENSIONS/AREA: 2,200 sqm.
The Belgian Pavilion embodies the theme of “Saving Lives” through water by presenting three interlocking architectural volumes that symbolize water’s natural states—solid, liquid, and gas—while reflecting Belgium’s three regions. Visitors enter through crystalline panels evoking frozen water, continue along a fluid, translucent ramp suggesting liquid flow, and look up to a cloud-like canopy representing vapor. Together, these contrasting textures—rigid, flowing, and airy—form a dynamic sculptural whole that conveys water’s adaptability, movement, and essential role in sustaining life.
