ITALY
PAVILION
PAVILION/EXHIBIT NAME: Italy Pavilion: “Art Regenerates Life“
HOST COUNTRY: Italian Republic
ORGANISATION: Ministry of Foreign Affairs
LOCATION: Expo 2025 Site / Yumeshima Island / Plot S.09 / Saving Lives Zone
DIMENSIONS/AREA: 3,000 sqm.
The Italy Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, located in the Saving Lives Zone, is the largest overseas wooden structure and features the Expo’s biggest rooftop garden. Spanning 3,000 square meters, it embodies Italy’s vision of beauty, science, and sustainability as essential to shaping a shared future. Its open, modular wooden design recalls Italian piazzas, welcoming natural light and airflow, while the rooftop garden with over 3,000 plants showcases biodiversity and ecological harmony.
The pavilion’s thematic journey focuses on “Saving Lives” through culture, innovation, and sustainability. Highlights include the Vatican Area, displaying the “Atlante Farnese” and Caravaggio’s “Deposizione,” alongside interactive exhibits on biomedical science, renewable energy, agriculture, and cultural preservation. These elements merge Italy’s artistic legacy with its scientific and environmental contributions.
Visitors experience a fluid narrative of exploration, from sensorial installations and regional storytelling to the rooftop Italian restaurant, which pairs cuisine with nature, and the pavilion shop offering artisanal and design products.
Symbolizing Italy’s union of tradition and innovation, the pavilion stands as a living journey—where art, architecture, and sustainability converge to inspire a future where life is protected and celebrated.
